Overview

Mappinest tracks your total hosted storage in the console so you can monitor usage before you reach your plan limit. This includes all tilesets and datasets currently stored under your account.

This page explains where to view storage usage, what the storage card shows, how limits differ by plan, and what happens when you reach the limit.

View usage in the console

The hosted storage card appears on both the Tilesets and Datasets pages. It updates each time you upload or delete a tileset or dataset and shows the total used storage, your plan allowance, and remaining available storage.

Total allowance - the maximum hosted storage included in your current plan
Remaining - available space before you hit the plan limit

Storage limits by plan

Hosted storage and tileset file limits depend on your plan. Dataset size limits are currently the same across all plans.

A small tileset or dataset file can still require a higher plan if individual tile payloads are very large, raster tiles use high resolution, or vector layers contain many attributes. See Upload validation limits for detailed dataset and tileset limits.

Uploading a tileset or a dataset increases hosted storage usage. Editing a stored dataset in Dataset Studio can increase or decrease usage as features and attributes are added, changed, or removed. Deleting a tileset or dataset removes its stored size from the displayed total.

What happens when you reach the limit

Once your total hosted storage reaches the Free plan limit, upgrade to Flex to raise the allowance to 20 GB. If you need more than 20 GB of hosted storage or custom ingest terms, contact us to agree Pro terms.

PAYG covers request overage only. It does not increase hosted storage or the number of hosted files allowed by your plan.

Storage after a plan downgrade

The storage remediation period starts when the lower plan becomes active. Scheduling a Flex cancellation does not start the countdown. Mappinest first measures the combined storage and active hosted-file count for your tilesets and datasets against the new plan.

If both values fit the new allowance, no storage incident is opened. If either value is over the allowance, Mappinest opens one durable storage-limit incident with fixed UTC suspension and deletion deadlines.

Period	What happens
Day 0	Existing content remains available. Storage-increasing actions are blocked, and an email shows current usage, allowances, and both UTC deadlines.
Day 23	A reminder is sent seven days before serving suspension.
Day 30	If the account is still over either allowance, serving for its hosted tilesets and datasets is suspended. Content is retained.
Day 53	A deletion reminder is sent seven days before the retention deadline.
Day 59	A final reminder is sent 24 hours before the retention deadline.
Day 60	If the account remains over either allowance, all hosted tilesets and datasets become eligible for permanent deletion.

Available recovery actions

During remediation and suspended retention, the console, download, export, and deletion controls remain available. You can delete hosted tilesets or datasets until both storage usage and hosted-file count fit the active allowance, or upgrade to a plan that covers the current usage.

A qualifying upgrade or a complete reduction below both allowances resolves the incident, cancels scheduled deletion, and removes storage suspension. A partial cleanup does not reset or extend the original deadlines.

Permanent deletion

Mappinest does not choose which content is most important. If the account remains over the active allowance at the retention deadline, all hosted tilesets and datasets are eligible for deletion rather than an arbitrary subset.

Permanent hosted-content deletion does not delete the user account, billing account, invoices, usage ledger, or security audit records. Cache and backup copies expire through their documented normal retention cycles.

Export any content you need to retain before the displayed deletion deadline. A deletion that has already completed cannot be reversed from the console.
